Construction of the Heart Mountain Relocation Center near Powell, Wyoming, 1942. Future Congressman and Commerce Secretary Norm Mineta was interned here along with 14,000 other Japanese Americans during World War II. Alan Simpson first visited the Center as a Boy Scout, and participated in scouting activities with the interned Japanese American scouts.
