Ralph Nader speaks with author Upton Sinclair (1878-1968) at the White House after the signing of the 1967 Meat Inspection Bill. Over the course of his long life, Sinclair wrote over 90 books. His 1906 novel The Jungle exposed unsanitary conditions in the meatpacking industry and spurred the creation of federal food safety laws. His 1927 novel Oil was filmed 80 years later as There Will Be Blood. His life and work were an inspiration to the young Ralph Nader.
