Ralph Nader speaks with author Upton Sinclair (1878-1968) at the White House after the signing of the 1967 Meat Inspection Bill. Over the course of his long life, Sinclair wrote over 90 books. His 1906 novel <i>The Jungle</i> exposed unsanitary conditions in the meatpacking industry and spurred the creation of federal food safety laws. His 1927 novel <i>Oil</i> was filmed 80 years later as <i>There Will Be Blood</i>. His life and work were an inspiration to the young Ralph Nader.
