A first-person account of the fateful Antarctic expedition led in 1910 by Robert Falcon Scott, written by Apsley Cherry-Garrard, one of the few survivors. First published in 1922, it is a classic of the literature of exploration. Sir Edmund Hillary used it as a guide on his own Antarctic expedition, and successfully retraced the steps of the journey that took the lives of Scott and his companions.
