THE POWER OF WORDS

Module III: Finding Your Own Voice

Pre-Viewing Activity: Student Handout

Before viewing the program consider these questions:
   1. What experiences have you had that you could write about?
   2. Are teenagers too young to be good writers? Why? Why not?
   3. Can writers write about something they have never experienced? Why?
   4. What does it mean to say a writer is "writing in his or her own voice?" Does it mean writing in the first person? What is a writer's voice?

Fill in your first-thought ideas in the web below. Consider what elements that effect the development of a writing voice that is original and yours alone.
