Pros Science and technology are the means to create useful tools. The creative process should not be limited and information should be made available globally to anyone with a computer. Attempts to regulate the development of pure science will interfere with the development of inventions that could shape and change the face of society, as we know it. Attempts to control access to information leads to dehumanization and creates a greater gap between the haves and have nots.
Cons The development of science and technology without restrictions or regulations could be a dangerous threat to society. Uncontrolled experimentation and unlimited access to information is dangerous when placed in the wrong hands, as demonstrated by the development of chemical and germ warfare. Science needs to be answerable to ethics and morals. It cannot be allowed to operate under claims of pure knowledge. The results always have an impact on the real world.
